The project dates back to 1997 when the concept was researched and newly developed by the Dutch research institute TNO. A consortium of companies took part in the project for a period of 8 years before lab-scale testing evolved into two pilot projects in Singapore and The Netherlands. The results of these pilot projects validated the concept and demonstrated the potential of this technology.
The original concept now evolved into a more elegant yet lower cost solution using a more flexible process and a simplified module concept.
This new design is currently undergoing tests in The Netherlands, Belgium and the USA and enables the validation of the mathematical simulation model which, given the appropriate customer data, accurately predicts the performance of the Aqua|still process.
