Future Cubes

Because of the simple and uniform design of the cubes, it's easy to produce cubes for other membrane applications. These new developments are done with partners, so Aqua|still can remained focused on their core business. Implementation of these applications is done exclusively by these partners. Several partners are already testing cubes for other application areas.

Aqua+|cube

In some applications, the presence of some surface active substances, can negatively affect the water quality of the distillate, because of a phenomenon called wetting. Therefore the development of the Aqua+|cube has been started which uses special treated membranes that are oleo phobic. These “oil-repelling” membranes resist wetting by fluids with a very low surface tension.

Sea|cube:

Because seawater is an aggressive medium very expensive titanium heat exchangers are used.
Together with our partner we are developing the Sea|cube which consists of very efficient heat exchanger envelopes that have very good corrosion resistance to seawater at a low cost.

Airdry|cube:

Another partner developed a process in which air can be dried with chemicals using a membrane technique. Optimizing the membrane and the channel filling material is done by this partner. This knowledge is combined with Aqua|still production technology and evolved in the Airdry|cube.

Pertraction|cube:

In this extraction application the two fluids are separated from each other with a membrane. The membrane is usually hydrophobic allowing organic contaminants in the watery stream to diffuse to the organic stream. The technology for this specific application is developed by an american company who tested several membranes. This special membrane is applied in our Pertraction|cube.

E|cube:

The combination of a proton exchange membrane (PEM) and some electrically conducting spacer filling material could open up the fuel cell market. This idea has not yet been investigated but the potential is there.

MBR|cube:

A other future development is MBR|cubes for waste water treatment where ultra filtration membranes are used.
